A brief history of a Ford Chicago success story

It is estimated that there could be as many as one million abandoned industrial sites scarring the American landscape. That's a damn big number! One of them however, at least was reclaimed.

A total of 155 acres no less and by the Ford Chicago Assembly Plant. The site was the home of the Taurus and Mercury Sable, but was soon to house the 2004 Ford Cross Trainer crossover and Ford Five Hundred sedan.

Before this, the large plot of land had been sitting vacant for some 40 years.

Ford, Chicago-based developer CenterPoint together with state and local governments had managed to get together to spend $250-million to create an industrial park that finally opened and was fully operational in 2004.

This is just one example where right thinking can turn around a wasted piece of prime land and use it to create jobs and become productive, and it took Ford Chicago based business to do it.
